Reverend Mary Mooney is a compassionate and caring, non-denominational / interfaith minister who officiates wedding ceremonies in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill areas and beyond.
She has officiated ceremonies in parks, homes, hotels, churches, historic sights, restaurants, art spaces, inns, civic halls, club houses, on the beach and at commercial wedding locations. While she usually officiates ceremonies in the triangle area, she has traveled as far away as Hawaii.
She meets with the couple to talk about their wedding and designs a customized ceremony which incorporates the couple’s beliefs and their desire to make meaningful and lasting vows to each other.
Her ceremonies have included Christian, Jewish, Native American, Buddhist, Hindu, Celtic, and civil. She integrates both inter-denominational and interfaith weddings into a ceremony in which the couple, family and friends feel included and comfortable.
For those who are unchurched or not committed to any religious tradition, a spiritual but non-religious ceremony is designed. A choice of six ceremonies is presented to choose from for those who prefer a non-customized ceremony.
Reverend Mooney’s Raleigh office (formerly a residential home) is located in a lovely 1-½ acre outdoor setting which includes a pond and trees. This space is available for small weddings where eloping couples or those with a small wedding group can have their ceremony indoors or outside at no additional fee.
Weddings can be planned as much as 1-½ years in advance or, possibly, same day availability.
For out of state couples who plan to marry in the triangle area she can carry out all the plans by phone and e-mail.
Rev. Mooney uses her own lapel microphone and sound system for outdoor weddings or those large hotels or halls where amplified sound is needed.
For those couples who are not using a professional director, Rev. Mooney assists or directs the rehearsal as desired.
After the ceremony you are given a lovely Marriage Certificate suitable for framing which is signed by your official witnesses.
Rev. Mooney received a Master of Divinity in psychology and spiritual counseling and was ordained in 1997. She is a full time stress counselor, spiritual counselor and special occasion minister. She is available for pre-marital, post-marital, individual, or family counseling upon request but does not require it for officiating your ceremony.
Rev. Mooney and her husband, Chuck, live in Raleigh. They have two adult sons.
